Sensing that local businesses follow discriminatory hiring practices, a non-profit firm collects data on 200 white individuals and 200 black individuals, all of whom are similar in age, experience, and education, who apply for jobs being a waiter at a restaurant. Each individual applies to two jobs, one in an area where residents are predominantly Black (area B) and one where residents are predominately white (area W).
