Service System Building: RMIT Design Hub

Analysed Element: Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

Description from Task 1 on element:

Every building must have a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system installed. It controls the cooling and heating of a building, and moisture levels of the interior. Its main use is to provide a comfortable environment for people in the building (Associated Cooling Services 2020).

In the RMIT Design Hub, the HVAC system is a centralised control system (shown in figure 1) for all areas of the building maintaining humidity and temperature levels. It's focus it to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for occupants (Godsell 2013).

Individual zone temperature control must be incorporated into the HVAC system design, with common zones shared exclusively by regions with similar functional needs, occupancies, frequency of operation hours, and load profiles. No two room should be supplied by two separate air conditioning systems. (RMIT, 2020)

Task: - Narrow down scope of HVAC system focus on one or two partical elements and then analyse them and include technical details

- Analyses of the contribution of the elements to general building performance and integrity (physical, visual and performance integration) are COMPREHENSIVELY EXPLAINED and included technical considerations.
