(Do a search on the internet, or contact a government department). or b/ Obtain examples of written procedures from an organisation you are familiar with (eg. perhaps where you or a friend works. You may be able to view a staff manual, for instance) 2. Select a chemical used extensively in your industry and contact the necessary departments or companies to obtain a M.S.D.S. on the product. (Material Safety Data Sheet). 3. Check the condition of the Personal Protective Equipment in your work situation. 4. Obtain relevant information on the Code of Practices relevant to your industry. Look specifically at Manual Handling. You may need to contact your employer's Workplace Health and Safety Officer or contact the relevant authority in your country or region. If you do not work, consider the code in relevance to a site you can inspect. ASSIGNMENT 1. Submit a report in relation to Code of Practices-Manual Handling as applicable in your work situation, or a situation you are able to visit and inspect. 2. Chemicals are used and stored in most industries, whether for controlling pests, cleaning or some other purpose. Give a brief outline on the storage of chemicals in relation to Occupational Health and Safety in an industry you are familiar with. 3. Based on information obtained in Task 2, if M.S.D.S. were lacking, what P.P.E. would you suggest are required in your situation? 4. Design a Safety checklist suitable for your situation or an industry you are familiar with. 5. How does a company achieve good discipline? 6. How do you go about handling a complaint? List the factors that should remembered when handling a grievance or complaint and give a brief explanation. 7. Write a Procedure for either "handling complaints" or "Dealing with an accident resulting in injury to a worker" in a workplace you are familiar with
