You must get to the "heart of yourself" and answer this question: What do you want to achieve? Whatever is satisfying and worthy can be a goal for you to accomplish. Therefore, no goal is too insignificant if it contributes to your sense of achievement. Living each day entirely is an important goal; it should not be measured against other purposes, which can also be important. At any rate, you, not anyone else, must be impressed with the goals you set for your life.

Richard Boles (2019) confirms this statement:

You have got to know what you want, or someone will sell you a bill of goods somewhere along the line that can do irreparable damage to your self-esteem, sense of worth, and stewardship of the talents that God has given you.

Authors Covey (2013), Roger-John and P. McWilliams (2004), and Ziglar (2000) write of at least seven different kinds of goals:

  • physical
  • financial
  • spiritual
  • career
  • family
  • mental
  • social

Below are (7) questions to explore for areas of your goals. Do you have any needs, wants, or desires that could be worked on in any of the seven-goal areas? Then, think about some of these possibilities:

  1. Would you like to start a personal physical fitness program? Would you like to volunteer for nonprofit organizations or become more involved in your community?
  2. Is your financial management what it needs to be to provide for necessities and some of your wants? For example, how can you save for a large purchase such as a new car next year?
  3. Are you satisfied with your spiritual life? If not, how could you improve that element in your life?
  4. Would you like an enjoyable, satisfying job? Have you planned to make an appointment with a counselor at your school and begin some severe career counseling?
  5. Do you want to spend more time with your family? Do you want to re-establish a relationship with a distant family member?
  6. Have you been thinking of further developing your skills and capacities? What would you like to accomplish?
  7. Would you like to meet some new people?
