SFC Young directly contributed to restoring clean water to hundreds of military families and 93,000 Navy water system users, restoring trust between the U.S. military and Hawaiian community after the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage jet fuel release and water crisis of 2021. SFC Young led a rapid response survey and design team to design and create the foundations for five new water filtration systems in one week and subsequently installed by United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE)-Honolulu. During this period, he consistentl.y accepted responsibility for signifi cant and unusual projects well outside the area of _normal fiscal activities.
