The "Self-Assessment:Successful Collaborators " has opened my mind to my strengths and weaknesses as a team player. On the positive side, I have scored very well on open communication and interpersonal relationships including being able to share responsibility among team members. Open communication and transparency are two vital pillars which are needed to make collaboration successful. Once team members open up and become less afraid of sharing their ideas, problems, and reservations, they begin developing trust, improving problem solving, and idea generation. Additionally, showing true respect to your colleagues without regard for their title or position is an equally important factor that will enable everyone to feel valued and allows them to show their best at all times. Collaboration in its true sense demands fellow workers to be more appreciative by being open-minded but not being stubborn and some hero personalities (Tomlinson & McTighe, 2006, pp. 151-153). I endeavor to engage in teamwork that is characterized by shared ownership and individual accountability.
