SHIELD Corp. recently terminated four employees and is facing some legal issues as a result. Nick Fury, the Director of SHIELD, has come to you for some advice regarding the terminations and proper notice. For each of the following scenarios, please determine if appropriate notice was provided and why. (12 marks)

A) Hank Pym is the head of Research and Development and has been with SHIELD for 35 years. He has two advanced degrees and is highly regarded in his field. He is 61 years old and is a few years from retirement. His employment agreement does not state notice terms. His position is terminated because of corporate restructuring and he is given the statutory amount of 8-weeks' notice because he has worked for SHIELD for more than 10 years.

B) James Rhodes has worked in marketing for SHIELD for the past 7 years. He has a bachelors degree in marketing and has been with the company since graduation. He is 26 years old. His employment agreement does not state notice terms. His position is terminated and he is given the statutory minimum of 5-weeks' notice.

C) Odin has been an employee for 7 months and is no longer on probation. His position was assistant sales manager. He is 25 years old. His employment agreement states that he is to receive 6-weeks' notice. His position is terminated and he is given the statutory minimum of 1 week's notice because he is new to the company.

D) Sam Wilson just started with SHIELD a couple of weeks ago as a security guard and is still on probation. He is 35 years old and has 15 years of work experience as a security guard for another company. During one of his shifts he commented about how much he disliked the recent Marvel movie. His boss was so offended that he fired Sam on the spot without notice.
