Should criminal justice professionals (judges, prosecutors, probation/parole officers, correctional officers, police officers) be held to a higher ethical standard than everyone else? Should society care if they post provocative or political comments or cartoons on Facebook, regularly drink to excess, have an extramarital affair, are abusive towards their partner, or gamble? Is it unreasonable to apply such scrutiny to their professional and personal lives? Why or why not?
