Since the $1980$s companies have tried to keep inventory as low as possible with practices like JIT $($Just$-$in$-$Time$),$ VMI $($Vendor Managed Inventory$),$ Consignment Inventory etc. In view of major changes in global supply chain operations since $2017,$ please discuss whether the low$-$inventory practices are still valid? What are alternative strategies if any?
