Since the 1960s SCOTUS has been particularly concerned with defining the situations under which the police can search for evidence in the absence of a court approved search warrant.  Discuss the circumstances that justify when a warrant-less search can occur?  There are two court cases that address when police can process a crime scene without a search warrant.  These two cases are Mincy v. Arizona and Michigan v. Tyler.  Discuss both of these cases & what guidelines were set forth for investigators to follow in determining when a scene could be searched without a warrant.
