Since the calculated value (t-statistic) is 1.9298979, which is > critical t-value (1.699). The results revealed low critical value compared to the calculated value, which makes the null hypothesis is rejected. Therefore, the BMI of smokers is significantly higher than the BMI of nonsmokers. In other words, smokers tend to have a higher BMI than non-smokers. Therefore, a right-tailed test is appropriate and is the focus of this study
