Single Story

1. Reflect back on The Danger of a Single Story, the TED Talk video that we watched during the Week 3 Module Assignment on Identity Achievement. Feel free to rewatch the video, if needed. How do these stereotypes relate to socialization? In other words, where and how do we develop single stories?

Interview

Briefly chat with someone with one or more statuses that are different from your own (this could be someone of a different racial/ethnic background, age group/generational cohort, gender, sexual orientation, differently abled, religious minority, etc.). This person can be a classmate, neighbor, roommate, co-worker, or even a family member. The interview can be 10-15 minutes long (or shorter or longer, as needed)

2. Maintaining anonymity (use a pseudonym) and with the person's permission, write a brief narrative story describing the stories and stereotypes from this person's life, similar to the stories told by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (3-5 sentences).

3. Next, write a reflection paragraph (3-4 sentences) on what you learned as a result of the TED Talk and/or the interview, specifically related to how stereotypes and prejudices are learned through socialization
