Sir Slosh Drydenberg is a man of pleasure. He is also one of Victoria's most colourful politicians, often seen puffing cigars at the Corky Crusher

Sir Slosh Drydenberg is a man of pleasure. He is also one of Victoria's most colourful politicians, often seen puffing cigars at the Corky Crusher Caf in Melbourne and dreaming about becoming Victorian Premier when he is not using Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms. He has been a cabinet minister for over a decade and is troubled.

Sir Slosh has an irritating neighbour in Toorak by the name of Trendy Crankshaw. Trendy has a particularly aggressive dog by the name of Growler. Growler lives up to his name and makes sounds through the day. He becomes particularly hysterical just before getting his almond scented rum and milk. Sir Slosh is wondering what to do about the dog, though he would rather prefer being on good terms with Trendy, having known him since they were members of the Pink Gin Society in England. They have had numerous business dealings in the past, despite their foul tempers. As Sir Slosh is keen to keep any action against Trendy cheap and expeditious and ponders what to do.

The very busy Sir Slosh has rumoured underworld connections with Vietnamese and Chinese toughs.Vital correspondence between himself and the Victorian police has taken place and is recorded in an assortment of files featuring underworld personalities. Some of these files include reports made by researchers for members of the Victorian Cabinet, including one titled 'Getting High with the Fuzz: Victorian Police and Underworld Connections.' Amongst these files are accounts and receipts for legal services provided by lawyers Leech and Screech, who so happen to be Sir Slosh's own lawyers as well.

Sir Slosh had, rumour has it, received payment for favours from the Victorian police at stages of his career, including the use of the famous Racing Hearts Escort Service for extracurricular activities. 'One has to keep the pig in clover happy,' he is known to have said.

Dreadlocks Divinity, a keen young journalist from The Coburg Gazette, is interested in doing a piece on Sir Slosh but is short on material on the rumoured transactions with the Victorian Police and the Racing Hearts Escort Service. She understands that some discussions have been taking place in Cabinet on this, though not all the research reports and briefing notes have been used in Cabinet. She takes a gamble by writing a speculative piece on Sir Slosh titled 'Where Sir Slosh goes, the dirty money flows.'

Sir Slosh is enraged by the article. He attacks Dreadlocks Divinity in a late parliamentary session. 'That journalist is a charlatan, a liar, a cheat.' There is much discussion in the Legislative Assembly over this. The next day, Sir Slosh calls a press conference and repeats his attacks on Dreadlocks Divinity. She is appalled and fearful, though wondering how best to get the evidence proving bad behaviour by Sir Slosh.

Proceedings for damages and restitution against Sir Slosh are instituted by a Japanese electronics company, Tamaguchi Ltd., after he did not meet private contractual obligations on the supply of key components in South Africa, Mexico and Israel. Sir Slosh's lawyers Leech and Screech have found what they believe to be valuable evidence, and feel he has various arguable defences to make. They demand more time after the trial date was set for two weeks.Delays to make amendments to pleadings may take up to four weeks. 'Besides,' claims Sir Slosh, 'these buggers should be suing me in sake-soaked Japan.'

With all these troubles brewing, Sir Slosh has a dazzling thought: escape. He wishes to get on his private jet, the Private Buccaneer, and fly to North Korea, where the regime of supreme leader Kim Jong-un is busily shutting down access to all foreign social media websites. He intends to evade Tamaguchi Ltd in the process and any claims they wish to make on him. He is optimistic. 'They won't be able to institute proceedings against me once I am in North Korea, eating buckwheat noodles and downing my own collection of superb Dom Prignon.' Lawyers for Tamaguchi Ltd realise that Sir Slosh, despite claiming to be 'debt ridden', has a huge pool of assets including a set of priceless paintings by Caravaggio. They also fear that he might relocate various items to North Korea and destroy documents to frustrate their claims.

Mank and Dank remain confident about getting more time to make the amendments.

Tamaguchi Ltd's lawyers wonder how they can respond to Sir Slosh's potential to escape to North Korea, what options they have and what obstacles they face in instigating proceedings against him.
