Situation

You have been working at the same company for 8 years. You also met one of your good friends, Simon, at your company and have worked together on the same team for the last 5 years. About once a month, going out for dinner or drinks after work with Simon was routine as he was such a good friend and colleague. However, you recently got a job promotion in which Simon also applied for. Now, things are awkward between you two since you got the promotion, and he didn't. You haven't gone out for dinner with Simon in a few months. You really want to keep the friendship going, but both of you aren't even speaking to each other outside of team meetings.
