Respond to the client response with using Immediacy.

The counselor asked the client is she currently dating anyone?

Client Response:

Um, you know, I don't really know if I'm really ready to kind of share that with you. I don't even really know you. We really just met and I I don't really think that something I'm comfortable or ready to talk to you about.

The client did have a frown on her face while she was talking and she looked down at one point.

The questions below are to make sure the response you say meets the qualifications

Is an observation made by the counselor about what the counselor is noticing in the moment?

Is the response directly relevant, not to what is being said, but to what is currently happening in the room?

Does the here and now observation or disclosure create closeness and offer feedback to the clients in a powerful way?

Does the response directly address the client/therapist relationship?
