"Smart" Norman is mad at "Cheating" Steve because Steve copies from Norman's exam answers, routinely. One day in the hallway, after an exam, in which Steve had again copied from Norman's exam, Norman tells Steve he is going to let Steve have it, and he holds a fist to Steve's face, grimaces and walks away. Concerned, Steve decides he better take quick action. So, at the next class, he brings a ball bat to class. He hits Norman's chair breaking the leg. The chair collapses and Norman falls to the ground striking his head on the floor, causing a minor contusion. Steve pokes the bat into Norman's ribs, and says, "Next time, it hits your head." "Smart" Norman knows immediate action is needed.

"Smart" Norman tells his friend "Big" Tim about the incident. Big Tim says he will take care of "Cheating" Steve, if Norman agrees to help "Big" Tim get passing grades. Norman agrees, and "Big" Tim corners Steve in the bathroom one day, by standing in front of the exit door for 5 minutes and tells Steve he's not to touch Norman and quit his cheating ways. Concerned again, Steve talks to his friend Billy Bob, and agrees to help Billy Bob to become a good "cheater," if Billy Bob takes care of Norman and Tim. Billy Bob agrees.

Billy Bob goes to "Big" Tim's house, where "Smart" Norman is tutoring "Big" Tim on the front porch. Billy Bob pulls a shotgun on them and orders them into his car. He drives them to a 30 foot bridge and makes them jump off, telling them the next time he'll make sure they are not breathing when they jump. Norman and Tim survive and go to the police station to make a report.

Define the following Common law crimes:Assault,Battery,False Imprisonment, andKidnapping. Discuss Norman's and Steve's, Tim's and Billy Bob's possible criminal liability or not, in light of "all" those crimes at common law.
