so doing some HW.3 multiple choice questions, all 3 asking to calculate the true cash balance... all 3 provided deposit in transit, outstanding checks, service charges, NFS checks, but the answers for all 3 were as follow:
1- $10,500 unadjusted book balance $40 service charge $225 NSF check = $10,235 true cash balance
2- $4,070 unadjusted bank balance $610 outstanding checks + $470 deposits in transit = $3,930
3- $7,650 unadjusted bank balance + $3,315 deposits in transit $6,490 outstanding checks + $570 error correction = $5,045 true cash balance.
if all 3 are asking for the true cash balance, why some questions we take deposit in transit and outstanding checks into consideration? is there a universal formula to follow here? or it changes? very confused
