Sociologists Martin Albrow and Elizabeth King characterize globalization as "that large number of cycles by which individuals of the world are fused into a solitary world society."[1] In The Consequences of Modernity, Anthony Giddens states: "Globalization can in this way be characterized as the escalation of overall social relations which interface far off areas so that nearby happenings are molded by occasions happening somewhere far off and bad habit versa."[15] In 1992, Roland Robertson, educator of humanism at the University of Aberdeen and an early essayist in the eld, portrayed globalization as "the pressure of the world and the heightening of the awareness of the world as a whole.\"[16]
