Method of Rzicka and Domalski (1993). This is a group contribution method that can be used to develop heat capacity expressions that can be used to calculate liquid heat capacities from the melting point to the boiling point. The method can be expressed by: CpL=R[A+B100T+D(100T)2] where R is the gas constant (see Table 4-1) and T is temperature in K. Parameters A,B, and D are obtained from A=i=1kniaiB=i=1knibiD=i=1knidi where ni is the number of groups of type i,k is the total number of different kinds of groups, and the parameters ai,bi, and di are listed in Table 6-5 for 114 different groups and Table 6-6 for 36 different ring strain corrections (rsc). Twenty-one more groups can be accommodated by the method with the group equivalency table, Table 6-7. See Chap. 3 (or Rzicka and Domalski, 1993) for discussion and examples of group assignments in a molecule. The nomenclature in Rzicka and Domalski has been modified here to match that used in Sec. 3-5 and Table 3-4. From the method mentioned above Estimate the liquid heat capacity of cis-2-butene at 350k ruzickadomalski group contribution method . the recommended value given by za'bransky' et al. (1996) is 151 j mol 1 k 1
