Kathy Kitchen is the dietician at a small college and is responsible for developing meals that are nutritious and costeffective. After surveying the appropriate literature, she has determined the daily nutritional requirements that she wants her meals to meet: 1. Between 900 and 1500 calories 2. At least 4 milligrams of iron 3. at most 50 grams of fat 4 . at least 26 grams of protein 5. no more than 50 grams of carbohydrates. Because her pantry is small, she has decided that she will only use 7 different food items (ingredients) to create the meals. The items and their nutritional values and costs are given in the table below. The figures represent the amount of the nutrient in a pound of the item as well as the cost per pound. Part A ( 30 points) Create an LP model of this problem and solve it using Excel. A1. What is the minimum cost for a meal that meets the requirements? A2. How much of each ingredient should be used in the meal? Using only the Excel output, answer the following questions: A3. If the maximum amount of carbs were day is reduced to 40 , how much will the meal cost? A4. If the cost of ground beef increases to $2.50 per pound, how much will the meal cost? A5. If the cost of ground beef increases to $2.75 per pound, how much will the meal cost? A6. Kathy, wishes that the meal included more milk. If she decides to add an 8 ounce cup of milk to the meal, how much will the meal cost? ( 8 ounces of milk weighs approx. 5 pounds) Add the availability conditions in the above table to the model from Part A and solve it with Excel. B1. What is the cost to make 100 meals per day. B2. How much of each ingredient will be used? B3 From a cost perspective, which ingredient would she most like to have increased availability? (Choose one and explain why you chose it.) B4. If new dietary research shows that a student need at least 5 milligrams of Iron per day, what is the new cost of the 100 meals? B5. The Dean of the college has a brother who owns a seafood distribution company. The Dean therefore requires that each meal will include at least a quarter pound of fish. What is the new cost of the 100 meals
