Consumers make brand switches for any number of reasons. In this activity, you'll show your understanding of some of the common reasons that consumers say they switch brands. This activity is important because marketers and advertisers should be well-versed in the reasons that cause consumers to switch in order to take measures to prevent a switch from their brand. For each item listed below, determine the best reason why a customer switch was made. Involuntary switching Ethical problems Pricing Core service failure Attraction by competitors Inconvenience 1. Sprint was a major cell phone service provider for many years. When the company was purchased by T-Mobile, Sprint customers were automatically put on T-Mobile plans and became T-Mobile customers. 2. Nora switches her insurance plan to Geico because it offers better coverage than her current car insurance provider. 3. Kevin's hairdresser has recently increased its rates significantly. While Kevin loves the work his hairdresser does, he cannot pay the higher rates. 4. Mason goes to check into the hotel he booked for his weekend getaway. Upon arrival, the hotel says it cannot find his reservation. Mason vows to never stay at this hotel chain ever again. 5. Raven thought she'd found her ideal coffee shop when moving to her new city. However, she found out the shop is only open until 4:00PM and she likes to grab an afternoon cup of coffee after getting off of work at 4:30PM. 6. Hosana visits a restaurant for a nice dinner out. While at the restaurant, she sees flies in the windowsill, finds mold on her bread, and sees the head waiter yelling at another wait staff member. Hosana decides she won't be returning and reports what she saw to the manager.
