Someone just brought up a personal issue with me about how miserable they are at work. This person has told me how difficult it is to go to work, and the boss requests advice on many circumstances but never likes the feedback that the employee provides. Along with feeling undervalued, the employee feels compelled to work for his employer since they are family. This circumstance has produced a great deal of stress and irritation for the individual, who feels imprisoned in a position that makes them unhappy. I emphasized that I knew how he felt and conveyed a basic knowledge of his emotions, as well as the experiences and behaviors that caused them. They are currently analyzing their choices and how to approach this delicate scenario with their job.
