Something that stood out to me was the funding section of the course during week 9. I have heard the term austerity, but not in terms of government funding. McRuer (2018) explained it as economic policies to reduce government spending. The consequences of these policies often impact disabled, poor, and working-class people negatively disrupting social services and access. When considering funding for community organizing and the economic environment we are currently in, it is important to take into account the austerity measures as this will impact your approach for successful funding. A community provides a space where marginalized groups can come together and share experiences. Through communities, identities can be developed, provide a sense of safety and belonging, and serve as a space to explore advocacy and purpose. Communities encourage a better quality of life and an equitable future. Give feed back
