She also wanted final hiring authority for her successor. As Mundell was agreeing to her terms, Millar added one final requirement. "We both know that you will be stepping down in a few years. We also both know that taking this job is a major detour for me in advancing here." She waited for Mundell's nod and continued, "I will take on this role only if you guarantee that you will use your influence to ensure that I will be taken seriously in the competition for CEO."
