Your working uniformed patrol, unit 312 for the South Bay Police Department.

You received a radio call to the above address. The reporting party (RP) stated they heard an argument and believes someone was hurt in front of 464 N. Rexford Dr. The RP stated that they heard screaming for someone to call the police and a car screech the tires and speed off down the street North bound. They are a neighbor.

While you're in-route to the call, another person calls 911 and states my brother Fred just stabbed my husband Robert. We are on Rexford and my brother left in a black car. This call originated at 464 N. Rexford. This caller then stated they need the paramedics for her husband Robert. Dispatch asked where the suspect is, the caller says he left in a black car.

You arrive. You see a Male, Hisp sitting on the curb in front of 464 N Rexford. He is holding a bloody towel onto his side. He identifies himself as Robert Torres and he lives at 464 N. Rexford. (DOB 4-13-92, ph# 310-854-8899). You were quickly able to get some brief information as paramedics arrived and were treating him.

Robert told you his brother-in-law Fred came over and wanted money. Robert stated, "I told him he wasn't going to give him any and Fred got pissed off. Fred then threatened me, pulled a knife out and stabbed me". "I didn't think he would do that. He ran away and got in his car. I didn't give him any money. That punk needs to go to jail for this shit. We have never got along and I can't believe he just showed up like this thinking he could get something from us".

The paramedics transport Robert to Queen of Angels Hospital in serious but stable condition.

You met with Robert's wife, Lisa Torres. She is angry and yelling. You have to calm her down. You see she has blood on her hands and clothing. Lisa finally sits down and tells you that her brother Fred came over to get some money from her husband. They had a fight and she came outside and tried to stop them. Fred pulled out a big knife and stabbed my husband in the side. That asshole threatened me as he jumped in his car and left. The blood on her hands and cloths was from attempting first aid on her husband.

Lisa also tells you that the knife was big and had a white handle. Fred had it in his hand when he left. He has a black Nissan 4 door with Nebraska plates. He is staying somewhere in the area and showed up today. Fred is an angry person and her brother; they have not spoken in years and was surprised when he showed up today.

Lisa provided the following information on Fred:

Fred Conner, DOB 7-22-90, M W Brn hair Brn eyes 508 180 wearing a black shirt, blue jeans. Short hair, TT on his Lt arm/shoulder of a knife

Lisa then leaves for the hospital to see her husband.

You see blood drops on the ground area around where Robert was sitting. You canvass for other physical evidence, none noted.

You canvas neighbors for witnesses.

Janet Hans (ph# 310-552-2211) at 465 N. Rexford heard the argument and saw a white guy in a black shirt stab Robert her neighbor in his side. The white guy jumped into a black 4 door car and skidded as he drove northbound down the street. Janet said she then called 911 for help.

Tim Smith (Ph# 310-544-9988) at 466 N. Rexford heard the argument from inside his house. He came out and saw his neighbor Robert sitting on the sidewalk. He saw a black car leave the street but didn't see anything. You see Tim has cameras on his house. Tim looks at the video footage and notices he videoed the black car leaving. You are able to get a copy of the tape and note it was a black Nissan, 4 door, Nebraska plates WEE 187.

You knocked on the following addresses on Rexford and no one answered. (466, 467,477, 488, 476)

No other witnesses were located, though you noted that several of the homes have video cameras that may have captured the incident.

You put out a crime broadcast of the suspect and vehicle information.

You conduct a follow-up to the hospital. You met with Dr. Jovel who treated Robert for a stab wound to his left side. Robert is in stable condition and will remain in the hospital for a few days. You are unable to re-interview Robert as he has been medicated and is sleeping.

You re-interview the wife, Lisa at the hospital. Lisa tells you her brother has been unstable and she hasn't seen him for years. He is probably staying in a motel or something in the area. He grew up in the area and has some friends, but she doesn't know where he might be.

RA Unit 445 (paramedic Jones #3344 and Handle #4455) transported and treated Robert from the scene.

Time to write your report.
