Southeast Texas, really the entire Gulf Coast of the U.S. is prone to high risks for both of these types of severe weather events. Considerable debate exists as to the degree to which we collectively (government and/or private sector institutions, or maybe individuals) make appropriate efforts to minimize these risks. What are the biggest problems this region (SE Texas) has to deal with when it comes to hurricanes and tornadoes? How can we better respond or prepare in order to minimize these risks? Is there anything we CAN do, or is this just part of life we will have to cope with
