State and local police stations in the United States want to increase the patrol rate for areas with low patrol rates by analyzing crime rates.
The city and county were geographically divided to include 5,000 residences.
The police also know that not all crimes are reported.
Residents don't want to intervene in a crime, dismiss it as a minor crime that they don't have to report, fear reporting it to the police, or even try to contact the police.
For this reason, the police randomly sample 1,000 out of 5,000 residences and call to collect crime data every month.(Anonymity is guaranteed for respondents.)
