Statistics and R Suppose that the Academic Resources Center (ARC) of a university is interested in assessing the efficacy of a group workshop series for improving student exam performance among undergraduates. The workshop series would consist of four weekly hour-long sessions discussing various topics including study strategies, time management, and academic self-care. They decided to partner with a large course offered by the Economics department teaching basic economic principles and methods; the course is mostly taken by first-year Students. There are two midterm exams in the course, taking place during Weeks 5 and 10 of the semester. Students scoring below the mean on the first midterm exam were referred to the ARC and invited to attend the workshop series. At the workshop, students were informed about the study and consented to have their scores on the two midterm exams used to analyze the efficacy of the workshop. A formal statistical analysis was conducted using the data from the 110 students who attended the group workshop series. i. What method of statistical analysis would be appropriate for this data? Explain your reasoning. State the statistical null and alternative hypotheses to be tested. ii. Suppose that the analysis demonstrated evidence of a statistically (and practically) sig- nificant difference indicating the workshop series was effective. As a result, the ARC would like to promote the workshop to all undergraduates on the basis that there is evidence of the workshop helping students better succeed on exams. Identify two features of the study design that limit the potential of the study to convincingly demonstrate the efficacy of the workshop series. Clearly explain your reasoning as to why each design feature introduces a possible problem. Limit your answer to a total of no more than fifteen sentences
