Statistics is prevalent everywhere, and we see the use of statistics in the nursing field as well. One reason it is important for us to understand statistics is so we can determine the validity of clinical studies, or other experiments done that may impact our jobs, procedures, and health of our patients.

Instructions

For this project, please search for an article in nursing that involves some level of statistical analysis. Here is what is expected:

1. Select your article, provide a reference link so your article can be accessed.
2. Read the article and provide a summary of the article and any research done. will be sufficient.
3. Look at the statistics used in the article. What was the research question (hypothesis)? What parameter would be of interest in this study (population mean, population proportion, population standard deviation, etc.) What was the statistical test run in analysis? (Did they run a regression analysis, Z-test, T-test, ANOVA, etc.) Write on this.
4. Reflect on why you chose the article and its applicability to nursing practice.
5. Your paper will be graded on the following:
   1. Article reference information
   2. Statistical terms and concepts
   3. Article selection rationale
   4. Applicability to nursing profession
   5. Critical thinking and understanding of content
   6. Grammar and scholarlycomposition

A few tips to remember:

• Use the databases. CINAHL Complete is specific to nursing topics. Academic Search Premier and Proquest are multi-subject databases. The tutorial videos cover several others that may be useful to you in your studies.
• Narrow or limit your search results.
  • You can limit by resource type, dates, and many other options.
  • You can limit using Boolean operators such as AND, OR, or NOT.
  • Don't search using full sentences.
• Select the orange "Ask a Librarian" icon in the lower right-hand corner (new location!) of the page if you need help.
