Step 03: Modify the template spreadsheet by replacing Your Name in cell A1 with your name. Change cell (:2 to the current date a balance sheet is a "snap shot\" of your finances at a specrfrc date. Step 04: Modify the template spreadsheet to create a balance sheet for yourself. Be creative. Again, I imagine if you are a young college student, you may or may not have many assets and/or liabilities. You could imagine five years from now when you, perhaps, own a car, maybe started a 401K at your job, &etc. Alternatively, you c0uld imagine y0ur parent's household assets and liabilities - a house, but also a home mortgage! Do three things: (1) change/delete the descriptions in column A. If you delete, delete the entire row. But try to have three or four items under each subtotal. See the below balance sheets in this document for some ideas, or refer again to Evaluating Your Personal Financial Statement. (2) fill in column B for the current year 2020, with dollar amountsl. If you use actual values, be sure to change them before submitting. Fill in amounts for what you think, or hope, you will have five years from now in the year 2025 for column C. Lastly, (3) double check your Net Worth value for both years is equal to Total Assets minus Total Liabilities for that year. Fix any formulas, if needed.
