Step 1: Conduct research to include the different types of celebrations across the world. Here are some sample keywords for research: holidays, writing, persuasive writing, creative writing

Step 2: Get ready to write about celebrations.

• Brainstorm a list of celebrations and discuss why those celebrations are important.
• What do you think some celebrations have in common?
• Twelve (12) elements of celebrations are listed below. Make a list of these elements.

  • songs
  • foods
  • traditions
  • reasons
  • clothing
  • smells
  • stories

Step 3: Next, create a new celebration. Write down the information for your celebration next to each element of celebrations (date, reason, colors, etc.). You will use this list to write your essay on your celebration.

Step 4: Write A persuasive essay to persuade the public to recognize your celebration. Provide examples to justify your statements about your celebration as you pre-write, draft, revise, edit, and publish your completed essay. See the assessment section below for the scoring criteria.

The essay must be at least five (5) paragraphs (An introduction, three (3) body paragraphs and a conclusion) Use the information below to check your writing.
