Steve Strong is the sole proprietor of Cute Comfort, a business manufacturing furniture. He purchased land and building for R1 500 000 on 30 June 2022 to expand his business operations. On 1st July 2022 he began a project to repair, upgrade and expand the building to provide more space to conduct his business activities. The project was completed on 24 December 2022 and the building was occupied for business use on 2 January 2023. The building expansion was completed at a cost of R300 000. The following non-current assets were on hand at 30 June 2022: Balances are shown as at 1 July 2022: Debit - R Credit - R Equipment at cost 900 000 Accumulated depreciation: Equipment 300 000 Motor vehicle at cost 810 000 Accumulated depreciation: Motor vehicle 324 000 Land and building at cost 1 500 000 Additional Information: 1. Land and buildings must be depreciated at 3% per year. Cost of the expansion has not yet been included in the above balance. 2. Equipment is depreciated at 15% per year on the Diminishing balance method. New equipment was purchased on 1 January 2022 for R75 000. No equipment was sold during the current financial year. 3. An old motor vehicle with a cost of R180 000 and accumulated depreciation of R120 000 as at 1 July 2022 as sold for R60 000 cash on 31 December 2022. Motor vehicles are depreciated on the fixed instalment method over the lifespan of five (5) years. No vehicles were purchased during the current financial year. Required: 2.1 Prepare the note for Property, Plant and Equipment s it would appear in the financial statements of Cute Comfort for the year ended 30 June 2023. The note must comply with International Financial Reporting Standards. You may exclude the Total column. Show all workings. Round off calculations to the nearest rand. 2.2 Prepare the Asset Disposal general ledger account to determine the profit or loss on the disposal of a motor vehicle on 31 December 2022.
