Stewart Parnell, CEO of Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) was convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison based on emails, lab reports and financial records showing that he knew about the salmonella-tainted peanut butter produced at his facility and shipped to nursing homes and companies such as Kellogs to be used in various products.Investigators found evidence that he continued to cover-up evidence of salmonella and ordered a plant manager to "just ship it," when both parties knew the peanut butter was contaminated.Nine deaths and over 700 injuries, some critical, were linked to the salmonella-tainted peanut butter.
