  1. Identify 5 variables that can be used for mapping strategic groups in this industry. Explain why each variable can be used in the mapping.(20 points)
  2. Determine strategic groups in this industry? Do you think we can use the same 5 Forces Analysis for all of these groups? Why? Why not? (20 points)
  3. Explain 2 opportunities available in a mature industry. Give examples for each opportunity that can be used by a beer producer. (20 points)

During an interview with a journalist, the CEO of Miller Brewing Company,acknowledges that the market has reached maturity, and that there is a substitute for beer, but she/he believes that the company will have some sustained competitive advantage. For example, they are going to have a new bottle design, open retail shops that exclusively sell their products and patent their new beer variety. Do you think they will be successful? Why? Why not?
