4. A metropolitan police agency is studying the incidence of drivers operating their vehicles without the minimum liability insurance required by law. The data collected from drivers who have been stopped by an officer for a traffic law violation and not having a driver license over a six-day period, are presented below. a) Set up a control chart for drivers without insurance per unit. Calculate upper and lower control limits for each sample. State if the process is under control or not. b) Assuming that an additional samples are taken and the new control limits are calculated as follows: LCL=0 and UCL=0.2808. The value of the CL is not changed, though. For three-sigma limits, calculate the new sample size. c) Drive its equivalent control chart based on average sample size. Table 3. Dataset Sample # of drivers # of drivers without without insurance driver license 5 5 3 3 1 # of cars 1 2 3 4 5 6 A 35 B 57 35 6 1 0 4 1 Table 4.
