Student Retention [logistic regression). Over the past few years the percentage of students who leave Dana College at the end of their rst year has increased. Last year. Dana started voluntary onecredit hourlong seminars with faculty to help rstyear students establish an oncampus connection. If Dana is able to show that the seminars have a positive effect on retention. college administrators will be convinced to continue funding this initiative. Dana's administration also suspects that rst-year students with lower high school GPAs have a higher probability of leaving Dana at the end of the rst year. Data on the 500 rstyear students from last year has been collected. Each ob servation consists of a rstyear students high school GPA. whether they enrolled in a seminar, and whether they dropped out and did not return to Dana. Apply logistic regression to classify observations as dropped out or not dropped out by using GPA and Seminar as input variables and Dropped as the target [or respons e] variable. a. Evaluate the candidate logistic regression models based on their predictive performance on the validation set. Recommend a nal model and express the model as a mathematical equation relating the target variable to the input variables. What is the implication on the effectiveness of the rstyear seminars on retention? Part A I have provided Solver output of Logistic Regression. In the text box write the mathematical model for this problem by hand and then take a JPEG photo and paste on to the space provided on the Excel sheet. NOTE: Dropped= 1 means dropped the college. Write the LOGIT function by hand on a sheet of paper and then take a JPEG photo and paste on to the space provided on the Excel sheet. 2. Use Excel to calculate the probabilig of dropping for this student in the box. Per! D Refer to the lift chart and ROC chart (provided). 1. In the text box provided, explain the information provided by Lift Chart. 2. On the Lift chart, draw a vertical line at 120 cases. Extend the line to cross the red and the blue curves. From intersection of the vertical line with the two cunIes, draw two horizontal lines to cross the vertical axes. Interpret the numbers on the vertical axis. Write your explanation In the box provided. 3. In the text box provided, explain the information provided by ROC Chart. Note: to draw a straight line in Excel: 1. Insert > Shapes > Select the straight line > Press shift while drawing the line to make it neatly vertical or horizontal. Feature Selection BestSubolh SubsetID V Intercet ' GPA Seminar 0 o L \"H...
