Students (groups of 2-3) will plan and execute a social experiment, based on information learned about experimental research in class and the text.

You and your partner will need to define the outline of the experiment, any possible hypothesis you may have had, the theory or theories behind it (a minimum of one is required), the structure of your experiment (e.g., number of participants, gender, age if applicable, etc.) the results, possible variables to support the results and/or initial hypothesis, as well as factors working against your experiment. Your group must consider the possibilities and limitations of correlation, causation, reliability, and validity. There will be a time for questions and discussion after each video is presented.

Experiment

Me and 3 three of my friends went to Walmart to see and dropped a $1 Doller bill in front multiple strangers and we wanted to see if they would notice. If they did notice, would they have the integrity to speak up and return the money to its original owner. We did this social experiment for about 2 hours, and we had encountered with 15 people. Only 3 out of the 15 people took the dollar and one included a local family. Most were very kind and made sure right away that we knew that we had dropped it. We also noticed that the 3 people who did take the dollars were all very sneaky and they had planned on hiding it till we were out of sight. So, they could retrieve the dollar safely. The family went as far as kicking it to the farthest member of the family just to make sure it was out of sight of us.
