Students should be able to applyknowledge and consolidate the required skills to communicate effectively with:

1. People experiencing strong emotions. (Extreme distress, reluctance to engage, aggression)
2. People in 3 particular stages of lifespan (children, adolescents and people who are older)
3. People with particular conditions (visually impaired, hearing impaired, decreased cognitive function, life-limiting illness, mental illness)

Consider and explore the possible responses and communication stratagies that will achieve effective communication and person-centered practice.

1. In point form, submit an outline of the communication skills that you will use.
2. Script a scenario that demonstrates effective/ineffective communication skills with at least one of the listed groups (several groups can also be combined, such as an older adult experiencing decreased cognitive function, or a child who is reluctant to engage)
