Gems (Pty) Ltd plans to acquire new machinery in August 2023 and must determine whether they will have enough cash available to make a deposit of 50% of the purchase price. The following information is available to assist Gems (Pty) Ltd in their cash forecast:
Additional Information:
Opening balance of cash on 1 June 2023 is estimated to be R60000.
60% of credit sales are collected in the month of the sale and 40% is collected in the month after the month of sale. A 5% discount is given if accounts are paid in the month of sale.
A credit period of two months is allowed by creditors.
Payment of manufacturing overheads are delayed by one month.
Salaries and selling expenses are paid in the month in which it occurs.
Machinery worth R900000 will be purchased in August 2023.50% will be payable immediately and the remaining balance in three equal instalments in the subsequent months.
