Part 1
Assessment Objectives
The student will demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to identify change requirements and to develop change management strategy for an organisation.
Role play Participants for simulated environment
- Student going to be assessed: Service Manager and as per assessment instructions and requirements
- Batchmates: will play role of the team CEO, Administration manager, assistant centre manager/ or as per assessment requirements.
- Assessor: Will allocate the roles and will assess/observe while you are demonstrating as per assessment instructions.

Task Overview
Using the scenario faced by ABS community support centre, write a report to the management outlining the change requirements. The report will be prepared by identifying strategic change needs, reviewing existing policy, and monitoring trends in the external environment that impact on organisation's objectives. It will include the operational change requirements and a communication plan.
Description
Part A
Review the scenario information provided (in the Appendix of this task) for ABS community support centre. Write a report on change requirements using the following standard format.
- Purpose
- Introduction (including organisational strategic plan goals)
- Threats
- Operational change requirements
- Communication plan (template annexed)
- Identified consultants
Procedure
- Analyse the organisational objectives provided in the scenario to identify the change requirements
- Review the organisation's current state to understand how the current policies, practices and operations deliver against the organisation's strategic goals in regards to:
- people
- quality
- financial health
- List trends in the external environment to identify events or trends which may impact on the achievement of the organisation's strategic plan goals
- Identify major operational change requirements:
- identify changes due to threats
- Identify changes due to management decisions.
- Identify the managers that need to be informed. In your report, include a communication plan that identifies who, when and how stakeholder managers will be engaged to review and prioritise change requirements. The ABS community support centre Footwear approved communication plan template is given in the appendix.
- Identify specialists to be consulted to assist with identifying change needs.
Part B
After consultation with the CEO and one of the specialists as identified in step 6 of Part A, regarding identification of change management requirements, develop a change management project plan. ABS community support centre has an approved organisational format for change management plan which is provided in the appendix C.
Procedure
- Conduct a meeting to consult with CEO andone of the specialists as identified in step 6 of Part A (assessor/or and persons assigned by him for role playing) to get assistance with identification of change management requirements and opportunities. Ask for his contribution to embed in the change management project plan. Prepare the meeting minutes on the organisation provided template (appendix B)
- Develop a change management project plan in accordance with the approved format for ABS community support centre (Appendix C). It includes:
- Cost benefit analysis for the change
- Identify and evaluate the risk and barriers
- Identify mitigation strategy
- Creative technique, activity or tactic you will use to gain acceptance and for responding to resistance to change
- 3. Obtain approval from CEO (assessor/ or person assigned by him for roleplaying) to confirm the change management process and get it signed off.
