Question:
Subject : Management information system - EAM (Enterprise Asset Management):
Assume you are the Chief IT Consultant to a large infrastructure development company that handles large scale construction and infrastructure projects at multiple locations. Your company deploys various equipment and machinery at several site locations as well as regional bases. These assets are repositioned from time to time as per need, some on a daily basis and some on a weekly / monthly basis. Your company now plans to implement a Cloud based EAM Software to have a complete control of the enterprise wide assets with the objective to meet the overall requirements of the Resource Planning & Maintenance Departments.
Search the web and identify at least 3 Cloud based Enterprise Asset Management Software / Solutions that meet the requirements of the company. (Please note that the requirements are specific for Construction / Infrastructure project management and not for the IT asset management). Study the features of each of the software products. Tabulate your observations of your study in a feature comparative chart and evaluate your final recommendation of the software product.
Ensure you have selected at least 10 core features/parameters for comparison. Indicate any unique features of the product that may be of interest to the organization's activity. For each of the feature mentioned, assign a score out of 10 (0 = lowest, 10 = highest) based on your evaluation of the feature's significance, implementation and the value add. Core features that implement basic functions which are common across all products (these are called baseline features) will get an average score (say 4), unless they also offer some enhanced advantage. Exclusive features that are unique (called USPs) of the product which are also aligned with your company's requirements will get an elevated score. You can mention these exclusive features as items a1 - a3 as shown in table below. Wherever needed you can include screen grabs of specific product details obtained from the internet to substantiate your claim.
Summarise your recommendation with a quick analysis at the end.
