SDH activity is thought to be reduced during periods of hypoxia (lower than normal oxygen levels), which would cause an accumulation of succinate. To test this theory, a research team measured the succinate levels in 10 cell cultures under normoxic (normal oxygen) conditions. They then placed the cell cultures into a hypoxic chamber for 24 hours and remeasured succinate levels.The data collected were analysed with SPSS and the corresponding SPSS output is shown below.
