Sue set up a business and has asked you for help with her accounting records for the first quarter of trading, ending 31st March 2020. She has maintained her own books but when she drafted a trial balance she was unsure why her cash balance of 5,300 didn't agree to the balance on the bank statement of 3,073. Her draft net profit before accounting for the following was 25,385. You identify the following: 1. Cheques written by Sue but not yet presented by suppliers amounted to 683. 2. Sue has added up the cash book receipts incorrectly for January. The total for cash sales should have been 1,200 higher 3. Cheques received from customers and banked on 30th March have not yet been reflected on the bank statement. The cheques amount to 2,552 4. Bank charges of 50 had not been recorded in the accounts as yet. 5. The bank has incorrectly charged Sue's account with a cheque that was written by a different business. The bank has accepted the error but has not yet refunded the 1240 to Sue's account 6. A direct debit of 250 for electricity and gas has not yet been recorded 7. Sue recorded a courier expense as 135 but in fact the cheque was correctly written out for 153 Requirement (a) Reconcile the cash account and bank statement (10 marks) (b) Calculate Sue's adjusted net profit
