In different forms, technology plays a great positive role in adolescent development. Firstly, they have accessed a lot of educational materials and e-learning sites through the internet which has made their learning better and easier for them. This gives high school students access to different information like tutorials, and interactive lessons, and thus allows them to know more about something learned in class. Furthermore, adolescents can now relate easily with other peers from different social settings as well as cultures. Broadening their minds and assisting them in developing crucial life skills for work; social and communication, which will be very important for them in the future. Essentially, technology has a significant impact on the overall progress of teenagers by providing them with information and supporting friendship links that improve their understanding and reasoning abilities as well.

There are several ways through which technology can be detrimental to the development of adolescents. This however has a major disadvantage being low social interaction and communication skills. Teenagers start living in a virtual world and as a result, spend less time talking to each other. This prevents them from learning social skills that enable them to understand others, listen actively, and communicate verbally well. As a result, it may be difficult for adolescents to establish deep ties and deal with true interpersonal relations. Secondly, too much screen time may cause shortened attention span and poor task focus that hinder learners' performance in school. Finally, although technology has some positive impacts on teenagers, they need to learn to balance themselves and grow socially if they are going to develop well into adults with balanced personalities.
