During the performance appraisal meeting, supervisors are expected to address performance gaps and develop an action plan with specific goals for improvement for each employee including any needed training their employees might need.
Over the past year, Directors of the company noticed a reduction in productivity resulting in a increase in returns and profit loss.
The Director of HR decided that effective June st performance appraisals would become mandatory, and supervisors would be accountable for managing employee performance.
Since supervisors were never provided formal training on the performance management process, this training would be provided in April and May to ensure that supervisors are ready for the launch in June.

Employees: The HR Consultant met with a small group of employees and discovered that most of them have never had a performance appraisal review.
Director of Human Resources: The Director of HR indicated that the company has a formal process that supervisors are expected to follow and a form that they need to fill out once a year after each performance appraisal meeting. They have never provided supervisors with training in performance management.
