She is quite concerned that the management trainees they have been hiring are not progressing as quickly and as far into the management ranks as they had hoped/expected. Their current selection practice for management trainees is based on the following criteria: SAT scores, college GPA, prestige of college, and personal interview/resume. The VP feels that the problem is that although their hires have performed very well at top colleges, they lack basic common (i.e., business) sense. To solve this problem, you decide that what is needed is a written test that measures common sense. After an extensive search, you discover the Guilford General Reasoning Test (GGRT), comprised of 27 basic reasoning problems with a 35 minute time limit. Although you are quite pleased to have discovered this test since you feel this is "just what the doctor ordered", you also realize that before you can begin selecting candidates, you need to validate this test.
