Surveys of students in MGSC 1206 were conducted in the fall and winter of the 2019/20 and 2020/21 academic years. Although different survey questions were used in fall versus winter, most of the questions remained the same between the two years. These surveys afford us the opportunity to evaluate some of the impacts of COVID 19 and the move from face to face to online teaching In the fall, it was noted that there were significant demographic changes, namely, a decrease in the proportion of female students and the proportion of students from outside Canada. Overall, enrolments in MGSC 1206 decreased. Students in fall 2020 reported lower summer earnings compared to 2019, especially among international students. Students in fall 2019 also stated that they experienced more frequent episodes of depression than in 2019. Students who take MGSC 1206 in the fall are not "traditional students in that proportionately, there are many more transfer students and more international students. Students are more likely to have started their studies in a previous term, such as January or the preceding year. Students enrolled in MGSC 1206 in the winter are far more likely to have started in September and to have entered directly from high school. Most of them fit the profile of the "traditional" first year Business student, although there are still some who are transfers or started in a different term. Those enrolled in the winter of 2021 are also different from those in fall 2020 because most have experienced a full term of online classes whereas online classes were a total new experience for the fall students. One of the greatest fears of students in winter 2021 was lower grades - at one extreme falling and at the other losing scholarships.
