SWOT & Needs Assessment

How do organizations craft strategic assessments and strategic statements? Many assessed "needs" of organizations are actually wants, or quasi-needs, or tactics. In this unit you will learn how to identify and quantify needs in an organization as gaps between 'what is' and 'what should be.'

In your initial post, follow one of two options that explain (from the question above) and present one selection from below:

• A strategic assessment of your organization, following Greiner's 4D framework (Figure 5.1) or Greiner's SWOT method (Table 9.4).
• A needs assessment of your organization, following Kaufman's (Table 5.18) Current and Desired Results, across the Mega, Macro and Micro levels.

In your response posts, seek to clarify what a SWOT or a Needs Assessment really is by presenting more context from your assigned readings.
