Table of Contents > Module 6: The Future of Healthcare Operations Management > Module 6: Discussion: Eight Key Trends and Operational Excellence Module 6: Discussion: Eight Key Trends and Operational Excellence There are eight key trends in healthcare that will drive operational excellence. They are: increased visibility of patients and resources, expansive system integration, integrated service delivery, greater collaboration with payers and vendors, additional business education for administrators, strategic focus on achieving financial value in all parts of the organization, consolidation of competition and the need for improved horizontal management processes, and broader use of optimization and analytics. As a facility administrator, how would you lead your organization to be prepared for and address the key trends that will drive operational excellence? Be specific and be sure to use examples to reflect your conclusions. Support your conclusions with facts from the readings and/or video assignments. Link theory to practice in your comments by relating your personal perspective with the information you have read or watched. As you respond to your colleagues' posts be sure to critique the response from the position that you are the final decision maker within the organization. In that position, you need to be sure that the decisions that are made to address the trends are the best for your customers and your organization.
