The material is subjected to only uniaxial compressive strain of 0.2% in all 3-directions as shown in the figure (i.e. all shear strains are zero) (a) Write down the equation in matrix form the stress-strain relationship for isotropic, transversely isotropic, and orthotropic linear elastic materials ( 5 marks) (b) Use orthotropic properties given in the table to calculate the corresponding axial stresses in the three directions (10 marks) (c) Repeat for transverse isotropy (assuming plane of isotropy as 1-2 and using average values for that plane) (5 marks] (d) Repeat for isotropic (assuming elastic modulus in the stiffest direction and poisson's ratio of 0.3): (5 marks) (e) Using axial stresses predictions from the three different linear elastic models, comment on the applicability of three models for bone structural response [5 marks]
